IT Support for Accountants

Get through EOFY without partners becoming the IT helpdesk.

Payroll, tax work and client documents keep moving while we handle the accounts, devices, Microsoft 365 and supplier problems around them. We support 5 to 30-staff accounting practices across the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore, with extra care around EOFY and ATO access.

The IT layer around your practice

Keep tax work, payroll and client documents moving through peak.

Your practice depends on several suppliers, but you should not have to work out which one owns every problem. We handle the IT side and coordinate the next step when the software vendor needs to be involved.

Keep the accounting stack responsive

We manage accounts, two-step sign-in, licences and the Microsoft 365 connections around Xero, MYOB and BGL.

Give every person accountable ATO access

Relationship Authorisation Manager gives each staff member their own access, with a record of activity and clean removal when they leave.

Stop sending sensitive files as attachments

A client portal makes secure document exchange easier to use, so staff do not fall back to email.

Keep EOFY quiet

Updates are prepared early, non-urgent change is paused and payroll or ATO access problems take priority through peak.

Save time in the tools staff already use

Outlook, Excel, Word and SharePoint are set up properly, with practical Copilot help where it earns its licence.

Bring practice data back when needed

Offsite copies and tested restores protect the records your practice depends on.

Compliance

Compliance and what the TPB and ATO expect

Compliance for a small practice isn’t a thick policy folder, it’s the controls being live when something goes wrong. A staff member leaves, a phishing email gets through, a client’s bank detail is exposed. The TPB and ATO want to see the controls were running and the response was proportionate.

We align to TPB security and confidentiality obligations, ATO encryption requirements for client data, Privacy Act and NDB obligations, and the cyber-insurance pre-conditions every insurer asks about. The renewal answers are packaged for your broker, with evidence, included in every managed retainer.

Frequently asked

IT for accounting practices, answered.

Can you keep our practice running through EOFY peak?

Yes, that’s the main reason small practices switch to us. We pre-stage everything that can be pre-staged before late June: Microsoft 365 patches, backup verification, MFA-token reissue, browser-add-in updates that Xero/MYOB depend on. Through the EOFY window we hold non-urgent change requests and prioritise anything affecting payroll, ATO portal access, or tax software. The aim is a quiet ten weeks, not a hero recovery.

Will you fix Single Touch Payroll if it breaks mid-cycle?

We can’t fix the payroll software itself, that’s the vendor’s job, but we can fix the IT-side things that take it down: Microsoft 365 outages, internet drops, MFA-token issues, browser updates that broke an add-in, an OS patch that hasn’t been compatibility-tested. Most STP breakages we see are infrastructure, not software. When it is the software, we’re the conduit to the vendor’s support so a partner isn’t on hold while the payroll deadline ticks.

Is Microsoft Copilot safe for client data analysis in Excel?

Yes, with the right plan and configuration. Microsoft 365 Copilot used inside your tenant doesn’t train on your data, respects existing SharePoint permissions, and works inside Excel on your existing client workbooks. Free ChatGPT or Claude is not appropriate for raw client data. We help you set up Copilot, choose the right user list (most small practices license it for partners and senior accountants only), and run a 90-minute session showing how to use it on real client work.

How do you handle the ATO portal when a staff member leaves?

We help you set up Relationship Authorisation Manager properly so individual staff have their own ATO portal access, not a shared login. When someone leaves, their access is revoked immediately, with audit trail. The same applies to Xero, MYOB, BGL, and any client portals, every staff member has their own login, MFA on every system, and a documented offboarding checklist.

Do you migrate practices off MYOB onto Xero (or vice versa)?

We don’t run the conversion mapping itself, that’s a specialist accounting job, run by the vendor or a specialist conversion partner. What we run is the IT side: setting up the new tenants, migrating staff access, integrating with FYI Docs / Karbon / practice management, configuring Microsoft 365 to play nicely with the new platform, and making sure email and document workflows pick it up cleanly. We project-manage the IT side as your single point of contact.

What does cyber insurance for a small accounting practice actually require?

MFA on every login (Xero, MYOB, ATO portal, Microsoft 365), regularly tested backups, endpoint protection, security-awareness training (especially around BEC / fake-invoice scams), and a documented incident-response plan. We run all of these as part of the managed retainer, with the documented evidence ready for renewal time, included, not extra.

How does pricing work for a 10-person practice?

Managed support is priced per person per month. Foundation is $95, Strategic is $150 and Fortified is $279, ex GST. Microsoft 365 Business Premium is supplied separately. That fee covers proactive support, security, backups, Microsoft 365, EOFY hardening, vendor liaison, cyber-insurance renewal evidence, and reasonable break-fix. Software migrations and significant projects are quoted as fixed-fee separately. Published managed pricing assumes a 12-month agreement.
